Who We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a confident, motivated individual with strong retail experience and leadership potential.
Initially, this will be a standalone position managing the day-to-day running of our Dorchester store, ensuring customers receive the exceptional service and experience Sportarm is renowned for. As the retail team expands, you’ll play a key role in shaping and mentoring new staff, setting the tone for excellence across the shop floor.
An affinity for country sports and countryside living would be an advantage.
Your Role
As our Retail Manager, you’ll be responsible for every aspect of the store’s operation from welcoming customers and managing stock to maintaining presentation standards and driving sales. You’ll be the face of Sportarm in Dorchester, providing a warm, knowledgeable, and professional service that reflects our heritage and high standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Overseeing daily retail operations and ensuring an exceptional customer experience.
- Maintaining high standards of store presentation and visual merchandising.
- Managing stock levels, deliveries and inventory control.
- Building strong relationships with customers and providing expert product advice.
- Driving in-store sales and identifying opportunities for growth.
- Working closely with the Managing Director to help shape future staffing and retail strategy.
Key Skills & Knowledge
To thrive in this role, you should bring:
- Proven experience in a retail management or senior sales role.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with EPOS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to work independently.

This position is ideally full-time (Tuesday to Saturday, 8:30am–5:30pm), though we’re open to discussing a part-time job-share arrangement.
